OUR MISSION STATEMENT

As a people of God ministering to the youth of the Parish through our Athletic Programs we will strive;
To develop a Christian attitude by showing respect for teammates, coaches, parents, and opponents.
To learn all aspects of the sport with substantial participation in practices and games.
To understand that winning should not be determined by the score, but by the efforts put forward by each person giving their best.

The SCL Athletic Association, which is a committee of the SCL Men's Association, runs the athletic program for the parish of St. Catherine Laboure. The members of the Athletic Association are dedicated to providing track, golf, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball and basketball for the entire youth of the parish from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

The Men's Association also raises additional money to fund special projects for the parish by organizing activities within the group. We encourage more men to become a part of the Men's Association, so please drop us a line if you want to become more active in your parish!

At the left we have provided a number of links to various informational items about our sports program, including registration, volunteering, sports news, sports links, details about each sport, FAQ's and important Athletic Association information.

If you reside within the boundaries of our parish, or if you are new to our parish, and would like to register your child for a sport at SCL, please click on the "Online Player Registration" link to the left. For one time only, you will be asked to fill out your family information.

If you signed up for sports on our website before, just click on the " Online Player Registration " . When you register the same child again for another sport later, you will only need to log into the system then provide information for your child pertaining to this new sport.

Parochial Soccer and Volleyball Try Out Information

BOYS PAROCHIAL SOCCER TRYOUTS

The SCL Athletic Association will be holding tryouts for the boy’s parochial soccer team for the Fall 2013 season. Tryouts are open to boys entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the Fall of 2013. Players must be enrolled in either the SCL day school or the SCL PSR program in order to be eligible to tryout for the team. Additionally, players may be required to play for their grade level team to be eligible for the parochial team in order to ensure the grade level teams have enough players.

The tryouts will be held at the SCL upper field on Wednesday, May 1st and Wednesday, May 22 from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. Attendance at one of the tryouts is required for consideration. Please meet at the SCL concession stand at 3:15pm in order to register. Additionally, each family will be required to read and sign an agreement to abide by the results of the tryouts and to adhere to the team expectations.

Parochial teams are competitive teams. While CYC rules are followed in all instances, there is more emphasis on competing and winning than with the normal grade level CYC teams. If you have any questions, please contact Shane Trafton @ 314.843.6744.

SCL PAROCHIAL VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS

St. Catherine Laboure will hold Parochial Volleyball tryouts on Wednesday, May 15th for both boys and girls entering the 7th and 8th grade for the 2013-2014 school year (SCL day school or SCL PSR).
The tryout is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the SCL gym. We will also consider holding a make-up tryout session for those cannot attend the May 15th tryout due to a conflict with another CYC sponsored event. Please contact Mike Hillyer in advance on (314) 575-0658 if you have such a conflict and we will attempt to accommodate you.

PLEASE NOTE: IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TRYOUT, A PARENT OR GUARDIAN MUST SIGN THE PAROCHIAL TEAM FORMATION ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. IT STATES THAT YOU HAVE READ AND AGREE TO THE SCL PAROCHIAL TEAM FORMATION RULES. THIS FORM WILL BE AVAILABLE THE NIGHT OF TRYOUTS WHEN YOU DROP OFF YOUR CHILD OR CAN BE PRINTED FROM THE SCL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION WEB PAGE, CLICK ON THE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION AND CLICK ON PARENT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.

THE SIGNED ACKNOWLEDGEMENT IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TRYOUT.

In addition, if an individual decides to only play parochial volleyball, he/she may be required to play non-parochial volleyball depending on registration.
