Parish Directory of Ministries, Organizations and Committees

Inspired by Gospel values, members of the St. Vincent DePaul Society serve people in our parish boundaries that need a helping hand and they support the SCL Food Pantry in a number of ways. Members offer person-to-person involvement by visiting with those in need, providing utility and rental assistance, food and sharing in prayers.

If interested or have questions about membership, leave a message on our voice mail at 314-843-3245 ext. 218.

Meetings held every other Monday evening at SCL. (Perfect attendance not mandatory to be a member.)

SCL Society St. Vincent de Paul Update

The St. Catherine Laboure Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Society serves people within our parish boundaries who need temporary assistance.   The Society provides confidential short-term assistance with utility bills, rent payments, mortgage payments, car payments, food and prescription drugs.  Thus far in 2012, $13,133 in assistance has been provided to individuals and families with $6,037 in utility bills; $4,365 in rent payments and $3,330 in miscellaneous bills including medical, car payments, auto/health insurance premiums, and gas cards.  In addition, the Society worked with the SVDP Central Office to obtain federal funds of $1,665 to avoid utility disconnections for needy families within the parish boundaries.

Donations to the St. Catherine Laboure Poor Fund and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Society/St. Catherine Laboure Conference make this ministry possible and we thank you for your generosity.  Please continue to support this work and pray for the Society's clients.

On September 29, 2012, the 5th Annual Friends of the Poor Walk will be held at various locations throughout St. Louis.  The SCL Conference will participate in the Jefferson Barracks Park Walk starting at 9AM.  If you would like to participate or support this wonderful cause, members of the Society will be in the Narthex on September weekends prior to the Walk to take your donations or help you register for the Walk.  All proceeds obtained from SCL participants will remain in the SCL conference for use within  parish boundaries.

If you find yourself in need of assistance, please call the SCL/SVDP line at 314-843-3245, ext. 218 and leave your name, address and phone number.  A member of the Society will return your call within 24 hours and arrange a confidential home visit.

SCL Food Pantry Update

The SCL Food Pantry is located in the basement of the parish office and is open Tuesday and Thursday from 9:15AM to 12N.  Thus far in 2012,  a total of 2,183 bags of food, personal care items, and cleaning supplies have been distributed to Pantry clients (averaging 170 families with 600 family members per month.)  The need continues to grow as the economy slowly responds in these difficult economic times.  If you miss the monthly food collection on the first Sunday of the month, you may bring food to the Pantry when it is open or call the SVDP phone line 314-843-3245, ext. 218 to arrange a drop off time.

The Pantry is staffed by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus and other dedicated volunteers.  The Ladies of Charity's Meal-A-Month Collection is distributed to the SCL Food Pantry and the Guardian Angel Settlement.  In addition, there are generous parishioners who support the Pantry financially and with additional food donations.
