A New Middle School Service Organization

The SCL Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has begun a chapter of Mini Vinnies. It is designed for middle schoolers, grades 6, 7 and 8. It offers an introduction to the mission of the Society with projects serving the poor or vulnerable, offering students a chance to understand the real-world impact of poverty.

Organizational meetings will be held as needed the third Monday of each month between school dismissal and PSR beginning in the Parish Center (3:15-4:15pm).  Meetings will be held in preparation for individual events, and some events may take place in the meetings.  Service projects are currently being designed, but will include some weekend assistance such as raking leaves in the fall or planting in the spring for parishioners needing assistance, assistance with SVdP thrift store donation truck, the Walk for the Poor (September) and assisting in the Little Liberty Lounge at the Homecoming.
