"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission..." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1213)
We celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism following the Noon Mass on the first and third Sundays of each month. To schedule a Baptism, please contact the Parish Office at 314-843-3245.
A Baptismal Preparation Class is required for new parents and is held on the second Sunday of each month following the Noon Mass in the church. While all parents are encouraged to attend, this class is required for those bringing their first child for Baptism.
Parents are asked to choose two godparents (sponsors) for their child. Because the sponsor helps support the parents in passing on the Catholic faith, this person should take the role seriously and be a strong Christian example. Church law requires that the godparent be a practicing Catholic, at least 16 years old, and fully initiated through the Sacrament of Confirmation.
