Parish Mission Statement

We are the People of God, a parish of brothers and sisters,
Baptized in Jesus Christ and united in the Eucharist.
We strive to follow Jesus Christ the evangelizer of the poor.
Because the Eucharist is the font and source of our lives,
We consciously commit ourselves to build and nourish
A community to worship God and serve each other.
We express our worship and our calling,
By living as a People for the Poor In an active and practical manner,
Inspired by the charism of Saint Vincent De Paul.
With St. Catherine Laboure as our patroness,
We commit to a dedicated love of Mary, the mother of Jesus.

I mentioned last week that I’ve been looking at the data base, names and addresses so that I could have you through my mind’s eye in my heart as I am praying during this challenging time.  My staff is great.  They saw on the news a priest who put up pictures of his parishioners in the empty pews, voila they printed and put a photo of everyone who was in the photo directory of...

A Message from Fr. Jim April 2, 2020
Be careful of false dichotomies.  Soon we will be locked in acrimonious debate about how to best choose for the protection of the most vulnerable in our society, how to choose a course of action that will best blunt the pandemic, which will save lives by minimizing the shock to our health system of hundreds of thousands of very sick individuals, how to save many from the life threatening resu...

NEWSFLASH   We have received and installed the equipment necessary for live-streaming.   This  morning,  Saturday the 28th at 8:15 Mass, we successfully accomplished our first live-streamed Mass.  We had, for a little better than a week been recording it with the very advanced instrument known as "Fr. Jim’s I phone 6".  Everything is much better now other than the celebrant. He remains a work in progress. So, we invite...

We are forced now, in this slow motion challenge, to find out some truths about who we are, what we stand for, what the nature of our character is, and whether we are willing to become what God has made us to be. I am now daily looking at our parish data base, just names and addresses, pictures if they are there.  Church law tells me you are my responsibility, my heart tells me you are my parish family, so in your absence, this enforced absence which we firmly hope will slow the virus fr...

    Spiritual Communion

    Spiritual Communion
Spiritual Communion First let me tell you that in ordinary times I think the concept of Spiritual Communion is not helpful.  I mean after all we work hard to get even cradle Catholics to know and accept that Holy Communion is REALLY the body and blood of Christ Jesus under the form of bread and wine.  It is not spiritual, it is REAL.  And given what we believe about the sacrament...

    Anointing of the Sick
The Anointing of the Sick As you are fully aware the world has been turned upside down.  It has impacted our parish in many ways most telling surely is our cancelling all public Masses.  The corona virus has put us on a Eucharistic fast.  It also has impacted how we are available and able to anoint someone who is seriously ill or in danger of death (the only people we can anoint ...

A message from Fr. Jim and the parish staff
As a people who love the Lord and one another we are called to respond sacrificially in times of crisis.  We are instructed by leadership at the church, local, state and federal level to shut down in order to lower the risk of contagion, helping our medical personnel and system and helping those most vulnerable our elders and those with medical challenges. And so The ENTIRE St. Catherin...
