A BIG "Shout-Out" to SCL Parishioners!

Thanks to all who support the SCL Parish Food Pantry. The Pantry could not remain in existence without the generosity of our parishioners/donors. We appreciate the monetary donations through the weekend Mass collection envelopes, Online Giving donations, contributions from organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, special group collections, the ACA and other donors. The Pantry is extremely blessed to have involved parishioners who shop and donate every month via the monthly meal bags. Through the various donations received, the SCL Pantry has been able to continue carrying out our mission of serving the underprivileged.

We would like to extend our appreciation for the considerable number of bags we received from the Thanksgiving Collection Meal a Month Bags. (The photos display our abundantly filled shelves).  In addition, we were also able to provide 110 families an extra bonus, by offering them the means to serve a praiseworthy holiday meal compliments of a special collection obtained through a group of day school moms. Our recipients were enormously grateful and physically moved by this act of kindness.

The Pantry, located in the basement of the Parish Office, is a wonderful SCL outreach program; which is open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:15 AM to 12 Noon.  We are available to ALL who need a helping hand. The Pantry regularly serves an average of more than 100 families per week. Each family is able to choose various items from a grocery list (i.e. canned fruit, vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, chili, tuna, soups, breakfast cereal, canned meats, pastas, etc.) Once a month families can receive laundry and/or dish detergent, shampoo, and toothpaste. In addition, depending on the supply, some paper products, personal items, and food items not listed on the grocery list are available to clients, as well.

We are thankful to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish for their ongoing food donations to our Pantry. We extend our gratitude to Panera Bread Company and the kind men of Mary Mother Church who pick up and deliver the generous donations of delicious bread, bagels and pastries on a weekly basis. The Pantry is also appreciative of the wonderful fresh herbs and vegetables that are donated and hand delivered from a dear parishioner’s garden.

This vast mission would not transpire without our faithful volunteers who diligently devote themselves to working at the pantry, in addition to shopping weekly for supplies. Our volunteers not only man the food pantry during distribution hours, they are here nearly every day, sorting and shelving the deliveries and donated items in order to prepare for Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This vital ministry is a group effort, in which everyone's role is not only essential, but is tremendously appreciated.

SCL is blessed with compassionate parishioners. Thank you again for your generosity and kindness to those in need.

Donations are appreciated at any time.  Please call the parish office to arrange a drop off.
