SCLYM Luke 18 Retreat Needs YOU!

“We are getting excited about our upcoming                                                                                                   LUKE 18 retreat for 7th & 8th graders, scheduled 4-6 January, 2019!

Every year a number of families generously open their homes up to the 180+ 7th graders, 8th graders, and high schoolers. This home-offering is an incredible help and so greatly appreciated by all who participate. LUKE 18 cannot happen without those willing to give us a place to sleep.

Right now, we would like to reach out and ask for some committed support in the form of these Sleep Houses.  What is a Sleep House you ask?  A Sleep House is a parishioner’s home opened up to a group of boys or girls of a specific grade (8-10 7th grade girls for example) for overnight sleeping the Friday night and Saturday night of the retreat.  The parishioner would provide transportation from SCL each night and back to SCL each morning.  Homes with a large open space (basements work great!) offer the needed room for sleeping bags and the children to gather.  We also send two young leaders (high school Juniors/Seniors) with each group to provide discipline and guidance. We provide all snacks and drinks, so just a roof over their heads and a shower are all that we need at your home.

Thank you for your prayerful discernment on this opportunity to serve our youth.  If you are interested in volunteering as a Sleep House, all adults (parents and any other adults 18 and over) in the home are to be compliant with Safe Environment requirements of the Archdiocese (Protecting God’s Children and background check).  We will assist with scheduling both of these to make the requirement as simple as possible for you all to complete.

Thank you for all of your prayers as we continue our preparation for our Luke 18, January 4th-6th 2019.
