Holy Week and Easter

Holy Week and Easter 2021

It will be Holy Week in less than 2 weeks and Easter in less than 3 weeks.  So where are we in terms of being open?

Occupancy - Last year in late May, for your safety and to minimize the chance of spreading the virus, we configured the church to observe the mandates from the archdiocese. The calculated full number of attendees was 130.  With everyone’s cooperation we could raise that number to approximately 150, still limiting the size of the crowds allowed in church to halt the transmission of the virus and eventually bring the number of cases to zero.  We want you here, but safe; it is a balancing act.

Here are some guidelines and helpful information for mass attendance:  Please come to church early. In these coming weeks, which tend to be busier than usual, coming late will increase your chances of being turned away, due to the church being full. If we reach complete covid capacity, we will ask for parishioners to stagger their attendance of in-person attendance to every other week and/or to attend Mass on the weekdays. The ushers are tasked with the difficult job of safely seating as many worshippers as possible, so please follow their instructions. This may mean you will not sit in your usual spot, especially if you are coming alone.  We appreciate your cooperation and support to provide a safe worship space.

On Palm Sunday, tables will be set up on the parking lot near the front entrance of church (weather permitting). The Palms will be placed on these tables for easy distribution. They will be available after the noon Mass on March 28th. If inclement weather is a factor, the tables will be set up inside the gathering space.

In the absence of the morning Masses on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of Holy Week, we will LIVESTREAM the morning prayer instead. Therefore, no in-person recitation of morning prayer will occur.

Following the archdiocese mandates of attendance, services on Holy Thursday and Good Friday will begin at 7pm on the evenings of April 1st and 2nd. In addition, livestreaming will be available for these services. Adoration in church will be held from the conclusion of Mass on Holy Thursday until 10pm.

Afternoon confessions will NOT be held on Holy Saturday and the Easter Vigil will begin at 8pm, it also will be livestreamed.

Easter Sunday Masses will be held at 7:30am, 9:00am, 10:30am and noon in the church only, in addition to being livestreamed. The gym nor parish hall will be available as a possible second location for Mass this year, due to our school’s need for space and security.

The pandemic has prevented us from experiencing a “normal” Easter again this year. However, we urge families to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ by joining together in worship and livestreaming Mass as part of your family’s Easter celebration.  While we would love to see you all in person, we do not want you to experience the disappointment of being turned away once we reach full capacity. We are confident we will see you all in person next year.

Happy Easter to everyone and God Bless.
